This week I planned to visit the Houston Arboretum and check out the "Gardening" section. Since I have no classes on friday I will probably choose that day to visit. I hope everything works out well and I can then sign up to volunteer and get started soon.

Houston Arboretum

I now took a look at another community service where I could volunteer. It is called "Houston Arboretum". There are many options in order to serve the community:

Personally I think "Gardening" would be the most interesting field for me. There I would be given the opportunity to learn more about plants and how to take care of them. I am excited to explore it out in person soon !

This week I tried calling the Fort Bend ISD Team again, but sadly I could not get a hold on anybody. Then followed the instruction to one of the school which works with ISD. Unfortunately the person I would have needed to talk to was at lunch break at that time of my visit. There I was given the phone number of the assistant principal, Dr. Milner, after asking if I could somehow register with the school because of my issue of not having a social security number which is required in order to sign up and volunteer. On Monday (02/27) Dr. Milner called me and answered my question and told me that it would not be possible to simply work it out with the school, but that I would have to figured it out with the ISD staff.

Enrolling at Fort Bend ISD

So far I am having bit a problem with signing up for Fort Bend ISD because a social security number is required. As a student from germany with a student visa I do not have a social security number. Therefore I tried calling ISD service, but so far I've only gotten connect to out-of-office voicemails. I left a message asking them to please call me, but I have yet to hear back. However I expect from Fort Bend ISD, as soon as I can get started, is to acquire knowledge, develop skills, and build character to lead a productive and responsible life.
